The Whiskey and Shays Rebellions convey the common people’s distaste with the new government wether it be during the time of the Articles of Confederation or the Constitution. Shays’ Rebellion began in Massachusetts in 1786 it was caused by the farmers refusal to pay debt or tax collectors. These farmers were displeased with the elite of the country sucking money away from poor farmers. Many of these farmers were veterans who had just a few years prior fought for the United State’s independence, which in part was caused by the taxation of the British of the colonies.
