The Pulpit depicts the Nativity, the Adoration of the Magi, the Presentation in the Temple, the Crucifixion, and the Last Judgment. Pisano focused mostly on the human figure when presenting these scenes, owing to the aforementioned growing popularity of capturing the mass and three-dimensional human in sculpture art and to the focus on Christ’s humanity and suffering. The Nativity and the Adoration of the Magi were usually sculpted into Tuscany pulpits but here Nicola gave them a unique realism.
