The two parks that were visited were the Brooklyn Bridge Park in Brooklyn and the Wayanda park in Queens. Even though both parks were considered to be parks, based on observation they were used differently due to the physical settings and individuals who occupied them. The Brooklyn Bridge park – Granite Prospect to be exact- is a large park with an urban setting; Therefore, it was surrounded by many large buildings including houses, condos, apartments, and hotels. It had an architectural design and was more for sightseeing but could be used for many other activities depending on who was using it. The ground for that specific area was mostly made of board and concrete. The Wayanda park, on the other hand, is smaller than the Brooklyn Bridge Park was situated in a suburban setting, it was surrounded by houses, a church, and a school. It was filled with many large trees and a majority of the ground was cover by a large grass plot. …show more content…
Both parks were diverse, however, the BBP had more individuals of the white population, but other races could be seen. The Wayanda park was more diverse, it was composed of African- American, Hispanics, and Indians (there were a lot of Muslims and Hindu). There weren't any individuals of the white descent. In addition to this, some of the individuals of both parks use the space for jogging and walking their dogs. Others used both parks as a route to their destination. Lastly, some of the individuals were using both parks for meeting up and socializing. In both parks, individuals were standing or sitting while conversating. The space being used by the individuals was not impacted by race, gender, or class. Everyone was intermingled, there was no group that was
