Anthem is connected to real world events like the Reign of Terror on September 5, 1793. You had to follow the laws and rules of the government or they would be punished. They have no individual rights in Anthem because they are a group and work for the brothers and that's what they do. In the Anthem it says this "He declared to all his brothers that a man has rights which neither god nor king nor other men can take away from him, no matter what their number, for this is the right of man, and there is no right on earth above this right." Women didn't really work in both the book and in the Reign of Terror because the jobs were left up to the men. It says this in the Anthem "I guard my treasures: my thoughts, my will, my freedom." And the greatest of these is freedom." In the reign of terror they could not express their feelings or they would be executed and many people were killed during this time. Anthem they do the same thing till they are 40 years old their schedule does not change at all till they are 40 but in the Reign of Terror people were allowed to do different things and didn't have to work all the time.Both the book and the Reign of Terror had controlling people in the government. In The Reign of Terror, the women would stay home and watch the kids while the dad worked and made money. Anthem Parents were only allowed to have one baby and mate one time, but during the Reign of Terror the people could have as many babies as they wanted to. In the book they all didn't have names, they were assigned numbers, but in the Reign of Terror people had names.
