In "Boys Life" The main character is not patient at first, while waiting for his class to be over, to be able to start the summer. Out of his mischance, his teacher was making him stay late after class, but not out of mean teacher spite. He begins to use his patience, and realizes his teacher might not have anyone to go home to for the summer, so therefore she needs someone to talk to. So out of kindness, as well as patience he talked to her for a few moments.
