SPEECHES: Brutus vs Antony
Julius Caesar: Act 3, Scene 2

Paraphrasing - Brutus’ Speech
THROUGHout the course of brutus’ speech, he makes it known that he didn’t not love caesar but that he loved rome greater than he loved caesar. This shows that brutus has great intellect to balance the rights of the many (the people of rome) over the rights of the few (Caesar). Brutus also makes sure that it is known that as caesar grew in ambition (or as shakespeare may have rathered it be interpreted as overconfidence/arrogance) that he became a greater threat to the wellbeing of the people and sovereign state of rome.

ANTONY ASKS THE PEOPLE IF THE INCIDENT WERE TRULY ACCREDITED TO CAESAR’S ARROGANCE, AND ANTONY MAKES IT KNOWN THAT CAESAR TRULY WASN'T AS COLD AS BRUTUS LEAD THEM TO BE BY ASKING THE ROMANS IF CRYING FOR THE PAUPERS WAS A COLD THING OF CAESAR TO DO. AS ANTONY REPEATED ‘BRUTUS IS AN HONORABLE MAN’ HE WOULD CHANGE HIS INTONATION AFTER ASKING A MOOD ALTERING RHETORICAL QUESTION AND MAKE IT SEEM AS THOUGH BRUTUS WERE ONLY AN HONORABLE MAN BY DEFAULT OF SOCIETY RATHER THAN BY TRUE HUMILITY. THIS PROVES EFFECTIVE IN PERSUADING THE PEOPLE FOR TWO REASONS, ONE IS THAT ANTONY MAKES IT SEEM AS THOUGH IT WERE THE PEOPLE’S IDEA TO CALL BRUTUS OUT, AND BECAUSE OF HOW SUBTLY ANTONY MANAGED TO DO
