When the masses are in conflict with the laws, it is from their emotion, endeavors and passion that makes one, or many, act in retaliation. Retaliation against government and its laws is a reaction that is caused because free individuals cannot cooperate within the political landscape of that time. Civil disobedience is a term used to reference an agent who seeks to better understand the laws and change them to appeal to the individuals within society. Throughout history individuals have fought against the laws in their time to maintain basic human needs and safety at its prime. Without MLK’s strategy of civil disobedience many today would not see the problem with segregation amongst coloured people. The importance in universal laws in relation to justice is that, even if people today still have racist tendencies, it has been a law since the 1960’s that segregation is not acceptable, if people still decide today to maintain their ignorant belief systems they also have an understanding that going against the law will result in repercussions, hence if they have enough respect for the law and the social contract, they will accept the full penalty, and in doing so they are permitting justice to be served to those harmed. Furthermore, it is only through universal laws which justice can be applied to many people in many times, if the law is fundamental to human freedom and rights it will be considered important enough to be considered universal for justice can
