Many people claim that physical attractiveness is not the only thing that matters when it comes to dating and choosing a mate but some may think otherwise. So, do one’s good looks have more of an advantage or does it make them differ from an average looking individual? Will they be more successful in the work field? In the article “What is Beautiful is Good”, Dion, Berscheid and Walster found that physical attractiveness has a positive outcome for individuals in many ways. The experiment was used to determine whether physical attractive individuals hold a more desirable personality, lead better and happier lives and also have a more successful job compared to unattractive individuals. This leads to the self fulfilling prophecy where an individual assumes something about someone and makes those assumptions come true. For example, in the article “What is Beautiful is Good”, the beautiful receive a great deal of social attraction. The assumptions people make about attractive individuals include being more sociable, extroverted, have more satisfying interactions with others, desirable personalities, popular, have better sex lives and are more successful. With them having these automatic assumptions about attractive individuals, they make them come true by believing them. In the article, “Playing Hard to Get”, in my opinion, I believe this is a great method that works because it gives the other person more interest and motivation to invest time in that individual. The majority of people do not want a person who is easy to get, fast paced and eager to be in a relationship quickly. I believe relationships work best when they are taken slowly. In the article, “The Ability to Judge the Romantic Interest of Others”, I believe speed dating is an effective way to get to know a person in a short amount of time but also agree that nonverbal behavior is an important aspect to look at when talking to others. It may not seem important but it gives one the ability to figure out that person quickly and make accurate
