The Faith
Introduction
Regardless of age, gender, culture or socioeconomic status, people have been pondering about faith and have been seeking the answers for millennia. Followers of almost all religions claim that their faith is an important part of their life. The purpose of this paper is to explore faith from the perspective of two major religions; Hinduism and Christianity. This writing, will provide the answers about faith by looking closely at two major sacred texts from each religion. A comparison of The Bhagavad-Gita and The Christian Bible: Sermon on the Mount demonstrates how people view faith differently, have a unique perception of faith in different world religions, and how it affects people’s lives and relationships in each particular faith tradition. This is evident in the sermon delivered by Jesus from a hillside to a large number of followers, when He presents them with teachings and sayings such as the Golden Rule (Christian Bible: Matthew 6, 5.21). Under closer examination of The Christian Bible: Sermon on the Mount, concept of Faith is best presented in the Lord’s Prayer stated in Matthew 6 (5.21). It is an expression of faith in a relationship with God, and it is the fundamental Christian prayer. This prayer opens one’s heart and soul to a God. Furthermore, by calling God “Our Father” brings relationship between God and the faithful followers to a more personal a meaningful relationship. Faith affects people’s lives and relationships in a very deep way. The Sermon on the Mount shows how faithful followers should live their lives that is pleasing to God.
