In Scholastic Scope magazine, there are two great stories. Each story is Narrative nonfiction, and each story has characters that are living today. In “Lost in Death Valley” and “The Evil Swirling Darkness” each have similarities and differences, such as how imagery creates mood. Each story uses imagery to create mood. In “Lost in Death Valley” Imagery creates the mood of thankfulness. On page 8, it says “ And then they saw it: off in the distance there was a strand of trees.” This is important because where there is trees, there is water. They need water to survive.
