Comparing Manolin's The Old Man And The Sea

This book shows many things in life. How to be able to overcome the most difficult options and still be able to prosper. In the book “ The Old man and the Sea” it shows him overcoming the hardship and prospering when no one else thought he would be able to. In the beginning Santiago and Manolin were fishing partners. Manolin was an apprentice to Santiago. Santiago and the boy liked fishing together. They didn't have that much luck, they hit a long dry spell of no fish. This caused Santiago to slowly get poor, barely having enough money in order to buy the bait that he needs, along with food. Manolin’s father expressed that until Santiago got more fish Manolin wasn’t allowed to go with him. Santiago told him his plan about going out further than any other fishermen. He kept a few up on deck just in case. He is cast out in multiple depths to get a wide span of below him. He has one down lower than the rest of them though in hopes of catching something bigger than what he has caught. Santiago feels a slight pull on the lowest string. He knows to give it slack as to not scare the fish that has decided to feast upon the decaying body of its prey. By the pull of the fish he knew this was not going to be an easy fight. He knew he would able to defeat this giant, it just might take some time. An entire day passed, he was pulled out farther from land, as the fish was pulling him. This expressed that life can pull you in unexpected directions but will always lead you to where you are supposed to
