Maus, is a very powerful book with a theme of honouring the dead. Another book that can be connected to Maus by its theme, is The Dead Child. “ She must have gotten to heaven by this time” and “She must be happy now”. These examples from The Dead Child show that in the book the characters honor the girls death. This is shown as even throughout this sad moment, they are happy for her and hope she has a safe journey to heaven. It explains how she was being honoured and shows that everyone has remorse for her and they all wish her the best in her afterlife. Similarly in Maus, Vladek honors the dead also throughout the book. They do this by honouring all of the innocent jews killed, beaten and everyone who has lost a loved one to the holocaust.
