There are many diseases in the world. People suffer everyday due to a variety of diseases. Although one in particular ALS also known as parkinson’s disease is one to focus on. Morrie Schwartz is an old professor suffering from ALS but wants to use his last months of his life to teach people important life lessons. Morrie teaches people to live life through accepting death, forgiving oneself and others before it’s too late, and to value the little things in life. An important lesson Morrie teaches people is to live life through accepting death. Morrie thinks people should accept that death is a part of life because everyone dies at some point. “If you accept that you can die at anytime then you might not be as ambitious as you are. Morrie believes that people should forgive themselves and those who have hurt them before it’s too late to do so. “There is no point in keeping vengeance or stubbornness (Albom 164).” I fully agree with Morrie because if a person keeps vengeance and stubbornness for too long they will never truly be happy with their life.
FInally another important teaching from Morrie is to value the little things in life. Morrie believes that society has brainwashed people to think that more is good when in reality it isn’t. “We put our values in the wrong things and it leads to a very delusional life (Albom 123).” I agree with morrie because society has taught people that more is better when in reality the strive and passion for more leaves people bankrupt or in debt; All to be able to say they have that one new thing leading to a very sad life if one does not appreciate the little things in life that may not have as much money
