In “The Odyssey” we learn how Odysseus and Telemakhos’ nostos and personality might be different yet very similar. He’s forced to be brought up by a single mother, Penelope who pampered him. That led him to become a shy, timid young boy who self-pitied. Through out the epic poem, Telemakhos is gradually becoming a man through the skills he has inherited from his father. He slowly progresses through the many adventures to recognize the obligations that he will obtain through becoming a man in the definition of Ancient Greece.
The first time Telemakhos shows a sign of maturity is after Athena (who is disguised as the Mentor) talks to Telemakhos and encourages him to take charge. “At daybreak call the islanders to assembly and speak your will,
