Part B: Compare the novel to the short story “Penny in the Dust” and the novel Night, despite being about different topics, also have similarities. The early relationship between father and son and how memories are portrayed between the two. Within both stories, it can be easily seen that the main characters have a strong connection with their fathers. In the novel Night, Elie is stripped of his entire family except his father. This allows him to build a stronger relationship with him over time. This relates to Penny in the dust as there was a relationship disconnect between the father and son.
