In 5.02, I studied two poems: Maya Angelou’s “On the Pulse of Morning” and Richard Blanco’s “One Today”. In On the Pulse of Morning Angelou expresses her frustration of people not coming together peacefully. She also expresses that she is tired of the fighting, that we should all work together instead of against each other. In One Today there is a clear message that there is unity in diversity, that no matter how diverse the people of the United States are there is one thing holding us together: our country.
