A Denial of Holocaust Denial The Revisionist movement and Holocaust denial are debated heavily in today’s society. The followers of the movement believe that Nazi anti-semitism existed, but question the existence of a hatred-fueled killing operation. They have created websites to spread their beliefs and have published their ads in student newspapers throughout the United States (“Holocaust”). I was first introduced to this concept when I saw a preview for a movie about it. I was very confused about how their beliefs originated and how they could question an event that had solid evidence to prove that it happened. After conducting research about the topic, I wholeheartedly believe that their theories are fallacy. The Revisionist movement was started in 1979 by Willis Carto, the founder of the group “Liberty Lobby,” a well know anti-semitic propaganda group (“Holocaust”). Carto’s personal anti-semitism is evident through many things he has publicly claimed. He stated in 1996, “If Satan himself....had tried to create a permanent disintegration and force for the destruction of the nations, he could have done no better than to invent the Jews.” (“Liberty”). This claim is purely hate speech and solidifies the fact that their beliefs are deeply rooted in discrimination.
