oth The United States Constitution and Nevada’s Constitution include civil right and civil liberties. In Article 1 of The Declaration of Rights it protects the rights of people. This means people are free, equal, and have certain inalienable rights. A specific group that has been denied full exercise of these rights and liberties in Nevada are Native Americans. Native Americans had several treaties broken and land taken. Nevada prohibited to sell alcohol and firearms to the Indians. It was also prohibited from intermarriage between tribes and whites and they were prohibited from attending public school. In the 1920s Native American children were finally allowed to attend public school, however until the 1940s Nevada had a better legislation.
