Cheating your way of life will always end in a consequence. The story “The Veldt” (TV) by Ray Bradbury is a sci-fi story about two children relying on a piece of advanced technology for happiness and entertainment, and would do anything to keep using it. The story “The Monkey’s Paw” (TMP) by W. W. Jacobs is a similar story to “The Veldt”, which TMP is about a family in financial poverty being given an artifact that can grant them any wish. These stories are very similar motive-wise, in which too much power given to anybody can result to corruption and to somebody’s demise. Although these stories are unique as well, with TMP’s family in poverty, but TV’s family spoiled with futuristic technology.
