The Western Roman Empire and the Han Dynasty fell 200 years apart, however many of the same factors led both Empires to collapse. Economic and political issues weakened the societies, as well as invasions from foreign groups. Both realms suffered from financial issues, tax evasion, dangerous, corrupt government, and the consequences of losing battles. On the contrary, elements such as trade pirating and shifting religion were distinct contributions to Western Rome’s fall. Likewise, the Han dynasty had unique consequences that led to it’s fall. As a result of their financial depletion, they became unable to pay off Nomadic tribes, thus ending their peaceful coexistence.
