The book the outsiders, is very interesting in many ways. And today we will be comparing characters and how or if they made a change. The characters that I picked are Ponyboy Curtis and Dallas (Dally) Winston. These two characters are very interesting to me. Let’s see their likes and dislikes.
In paragraph 1 we will talk about their choice making and smarts. Ponyboy is supposed to be the smart one due to his high i.q and grades. Like it says on page 4 when he says “I’m supposed to be the smart one.” He is more book smart than street smart. Meaning he don’t like to be a thug. Dally is a true street hood. Like on page 154 when it says he robbed the grocery store. He is very street smart but not book smart or school smart. He don’t attend school and is always in trouble. He is also more likely to win fights and stay safe where in pony’s case he will probably get jumped.
Next we will be talking about their looks. Pony is your average looking kid. He has light brown hair. Pony has greenish grey eyes. As described on page 1 when pony says “I have light brown almost red hair and greenish almost grey eyes.” Then there’s dally he kind looks like an elf. He has an elfish face and pointed ears. Like on page 10 when pony says” He has …show more content…
Pony is nonviolent. Kind of like on the first paragraph when he said he was book smart not street smarts. He isn’t a fighter he’s more like a mouse. He is quit and out of the way. Like on page 4 when it says “he was scared when he was going to get jumped.” “The corvair pulled up beside me and 5 socs got out. I got really scared.” And Dally he is very active in the gang. Everyone believes he is a hero for taking two bits punishment for busting out the school windows. The book said he was quiet and just took the punishment. He also saved Johnny from the fire. And there is always his bad side. Like when he was rude to cherry and her friend. And he also robbed the grocery
