Mark Watney is the main character, and he is a mixture between a biologist, a mechanical engineer, and an astronaut. He accidently gets stranded on the surface of Mars and is trying to live, only having a little bit of supplies and his wits. You can almost compare Watney to MacGyver because of his ability to build complex trinkets to try to find his way home.
Watney fights patiently through any of his situations with the attitude of being ready to learn from your mistakes. He faces situations that anyone would expect of a person stranded on an unexplored, untouched planet. He risked his life at every situation and definitely wouldn’t be approved if he had asked permission from NASA.
