Theater vs. Movies My best movie night at the newly remodeled extra digital theater in Colorado Springs, the smell of the new carpet, the biggest space between the rows, and the softness of the leather recliners seats make my night really special. However, watching a movie at home and watching a movie in a theater are different because of state of art comfort, social life, selection of snacks, and distractions. A clear difference between watching a movie at home and at a theater is the state of art comfort. A movie theater has the big screen along with the exceptional surround sound, but how comfortable are the chairs with those annoying plastic armrests that the person sitting next to subconsciously fight over until I find myself sitting with arms resting on my lap. What if I need to go to the bathroom? I have to maneuver myself to get through all those people at the theater. However, at home I can stop the movie and go to the bathroom or get a snack and return, and you don’t have to miss the sequence of the movie. Another distinction is the social life encountered at the theater compared to a home environment. Friday nights are common times to find friends, relatives, and co-workers at the theater and I can socialize about the new releases and share the weekend’s events with your friends. Opposite from the theater, at home I don’t have to worry about socializing with people, and I can watch the movie and think my own thoughts; others are there only if I invite them to come over and share the movie with me. One more contrast is the selection and cost of the snacks. At the theater, usually the available snacks are just popcorn, delicious icees, candy bars, and a selection of soda pops.
