In Gone I think Rainie is really trying to find her identity while she is still trying to keep her life somewhat held together. She was trying to make others see her as more of a nonchalant person but, you see her struggling a little during the begining with her drinking getting out of control and then Quincy giving her space because of her drinking. It is like a small circle of things that kept reoccurring. I feel like she did not know what to do so drinking was always her choice. He had lots of esteem towards Rainie. It was a sacrifice for him but if it made her happier he would take it. Love is sacrifices and Quincy knew that.
