The use of mathematical perspective and shape within da Vinci’s and Buonarroti’s work is what mostly distinguishes the High Renaissance from earlier Italian Renaissance art. Specifically, Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper and Michelangelo Buonarroti’s Creation of Adam characterize best the High Renaissance style because of their styles, they created the concepts, images, and techniques fro the next generation to use and in doing so, they set the standards for the next era in art history. Understanding both artists the important thing to realize is the artists are similar and different by style, ideology, and personality. Their similarities is what ties the High Renaissance into a great time of achievement as they display humanism, religious scenes and continue to display new ideals such as sfumato, perspective, mannerism and cangiantismo.
