The Devil’s Arithmetic was not about the devil, but about the horror that many faced, and that many died from. Hannah, the main character, is Jewish, and yet she doesn't know of the struggle her religion went through in the 20th century. In the book, Hannah learns all about her family’s past and what happened to the lot of Jews. The book also has a movie made off of it. There are many differences, but they both show Hannah the significance of remembering the Holocaust. Hannah thinks that it is annoying how all they do is remember on the Passover. She is soon transported back into time to Poland. Hannah goes to her future aunt’s wedding ceremony, where they are faced with many Nazis who take
