A lot of pop-friendly instrument, such as vibraphone or bell, were utilized in many songs. Songs in Motown were complicated and jazz-oriented with smooth vocals. The target audience of Motown songs are teenagers of all races. Motown performers were required to wear approved clothing, learn choreography, and follow strict rules from the company. Motown Finishing School was formed to help performers fulfill the rules. Most of the performers in Motown were black people.
