People have come to rely on the land for the survival and growth of the population. It slowly turned into a parasitic relationship, the land became exploited for money, resources and destroyed by the same people who used it to flourish. In Undaunted Courage by Stephen E. Ambrose as well as Manifest Destiny by O’Sullivan many of times you will see how they write of how the people had taken advantage of land they wished to live on. In Manifest Destiny O’Sullivan speaks of how its is our God given right to own the land, to exploit as much of it as possible in order to become a great nation.
