Retail Faceoff: Wal-Mart or Target You should always get the best deals for your money, Wal-Mart or Target you decide. Target is known for being the more expensive with better quality and Wal-Mart is known for being cheaper with less quality. The quality of their products, low prices, convenient store locations, customer satisfaction is the deciding factor in this faceoff. Having the knowledge of which of the two has better quality of items and lower prices is the key to being a happy shopper. Everyone has their own perceptions about the top retail stores, but do you know the facts? When it comes to having the lowest prices most retail stores have a program called “price match”, Target’s price match requires you to bring in a printed ad with competitor’s prices to prove the difference in price. Wal-Mart on the other hand has a more lenient price matching process, where you only have to state the competitions store and price and they will match it to which ever price is the lowest. Overall Wal-Mart has the easiest price matching policy they also are considered to be the cheapest out of the two to purchase groceries, other goods and services. There was a survey done, 30 identical items were bought from both Wal-Mart and Target. The 30 items cost $1,776.15 at Wal-Mart 5% cheaper than the competitor Target with $1,866.10, clearly Wal-Mart has the cheaper prices by the numbers but when customers were asked, Target has better quality of merchandise. Everyone at some point in time has had to deal with a rude employee, this is something that both Target and Wal-Mart try to prevent and make sure that the customer is always right. According to the statistics the majority of Wal-Mart customers agreed that it’s overly crowed and the checkout lines are slow and are never enough lines open. When it comes to the Target customers they said that it was a calm and easy place to shop, and that it was clean and organized. We all want to shop in a comfortable environment and not spend all day waiting in lines or for some assistance down aisle ten. Being able to find a sales associate
