A widely talked about topic across campus is how to improve on the safety. We are all currently students and know how it feels to walk to your car from the library at 1 am. There are bad people out there that do heinous things. A university in Texas just decided to allow student to be able to conceal and carry on campus. A lot of people have very passionate feelings about guns being on school grounds so it has been a topic that has a lot of discussion and viewpoints. This issue of having a conceal at carry at school had got a lot of publicity lately do to the increased crime involving guns either used in protection or violence. The ethics that fall into the category of bring a gun into a educational area can be taken in two completely different manners. This is a very important because it is something we all deal with in our everyday lives. We all have opinions on the matter. We came to college to broaden our …show more content…
Instead of calling the cops and waiting for them to show up, we are able to protect ourselves and try to contain the situation. . Desiree Hanford wrote a very good article called "Does Conceal and Carry Make Sense in School and on Campus?". She states "Guns and schools are not usually associated with each other, but when they are, it’s often under tragic circumstances." Which this makes sense, there have been a lot of instances where a gun was brought on to campus and lives are lost. She bring up the fact that we call people with deadly force. So if one person had a conceal and carry and was already on campus, couldn't they stop the situation just like a police officer would? These are difficult ideas to think about sometimes but It is very important that we are able to make the decision that is in our best interests as
