The Year of Consecrated Life Essay
When you hear the word “consecrated life”, what is the first thing that comes to mind? It might be a nun or a priest, a person praying, or a church. Consecrated life would be defined as a gift given by Christ who chooses a person individually to respond to His great love in a special relationship. When someone lives in a consecrated life, they feel like there was religious vocation towards them. Religious Vocation is defined as a divine call to the religious life.
When I was at the presentation by the Sisters for Life, I kept hearing them talk about their vocation to God. I kept wondering what is a vocation exactly was. As I continued to listen to their stories, I found out more about it. There were three nuns from Sisters for Life at the presentation to talk to us, but only two of them talked about their religious vocation to God. Sister Pio Jude spoke to us about her religious faith as a child, and how she lost it, but gained it back. After law school, she moved into the city and had a great job. Do you think that living a consecrated life is crazy? Some of the responses were the following: No not at all, it is their choice, no because if they decided to do that then they probably really thought it through and really wanted to, and no, because they help people. Could you ever see yourself living a consecrated life? Some of the responses were the following: I can not see myself ever living like that, no, because I want to get married and have a family, and no. Do you think need for consecrated women in society today? Some of the responses were the following: Yes, because nuns do good work for society, we need
