Corruption begins with corrections officers when they fall into the trap of inmate manipulation by helping the inmate get access to items prohibited in a prison. When this takes place the corrections officer become a threat to everyone’s safety in the prison and the profession as a whole. In some instances corruption with corrections officer happens when the inmates are dehumanized and treated bad to the point where it deprives the prisoner of qualities such as pity and kindness. Greed, temptation, a desire for money, love and drugs seems to be the cause of corruption with corrections officers. Some corrections officers allow inmates to talk them into doing the wrong things.
