Stephen King’s novel, the Long Walk, is an extraordinarily well-crafted work that has many hidden meanings behind its’ content. Similar to a variety of popular books, one particular character is a noticeable candidate for an antagonist due to his need to make a sarcastic comment about everything and his wickedness. From relentlessly goading “the Walkers” (these are the boys of ranging ages who are competing to the death for whatever they want most in life) to possibly killing someone, Gary Barkovitch would be a person many readers would consider corrupt.Since King portrays him in a certain way though, there are a couple reasons why he is difficult to despise entirely.
