ORGANIZE CRIME A real-life organized crime was the ABSCAM. ABSCAM was “federal agents who pretended to be spokesmen for wealthy Arab businessmen and were willing to pay for illegal favors (FBI sting operation). The ABSCAM “met with the officials and offered them money or other considerations in exchange for special favors, such as the approval of government contracts for companies” (Grothusen). The elements of corruption in the ABSCAM case was bribes and larceny. Governmental control applies to the ABSCAM case because they oversee all cases and pay attention to high profile cases like this.
