I wanted to follow up regarding the RRS concerns we discussed at CPPO meeting on 2/28. I discussed with Insight and received a report referencing participants of concerns. In regards to Mr. McMullen due to him continuing to use THC (after the third step) in which was discussed that he admitted to using THC in November and tested positive on 1/19/17, at the seventh step which in the MRT booklet requires the participant to at that point no longer use. I asked if he can return to CBI and was told he can definitely come back once he's engaged in SA services. I also asked about time frame and that depends on how compliant Mr. McMullen is with actively engaging in SA services which could be anywhere from 30-90 days. Therefore, at the time of his intake it was determined that his MH was not stable. I also confirmed that Mr. Buchannan could be re-referred once he is engaged in MH services which consists of active compliancy with attending mental health treatment appointments. I hope this helps and please let me know if further assistance is needed. I attended my second RRS graduation on 3/1 in Spindale and it really opened my eyes to a lot more. The seven graduates who successfully completed MRT were very open and some of them spoke about how it was their second time pursuing the program, their challenges of their inability to refrain from using which resulted in a termination causing them to start over or possibly violation etc. Most of all many of them shared how grateful they were of the support from their officer, other DPS staff, program staff, and that they gave what they considered a life changing program a chance. They also expressed how proud they were of their commitment to openness and honesty, and several of them their spoke about their commitment to stay clean and voiced/demonstrated how they look to
