But, he knew she was stubborn as can be, so he wasn't exactly feeling surprised.
“Deputy Cole,” Agatha began. “I know you told me no more, but really I think I ca-”
“Agatha Adams, you are one tough broad,” the Deputy interrupted. “You know what I said. No more cases. Period.”
“Can’t I just, I don’t know, offer insight? Just let me hear about these arsenic murders. Doesn’t hurt to just tell me about it.”
Cole thought for a moment, looking at the graying hair and sharp green eyes of the woman before him. “Okay, but you’re just looking. That’s it.”
Agatha smiled, getting her way once again. This would be her sixth case after her “retirement”. She knew the Deputy would always let her look at a case, no matter how much he insisted he wouldn’t. He then motioned for her to follow, and he lead her to his office.
Agatha shut the door behind her and took a seat across the desk. The Deputy pulled out a file and it slapped into the table. Agatha peeled it open and scanned the documents.
“Three dead, two women and one man, with no link between them,” she read aloud. “All dead from arsenic poisoning, and all within the last week. Was there anything else you found that could have possibly linked these …show more content…
“Is there a bakery within the radius of where they all live?”
“Yeah, actually,” said the Deputy. “Why?”
“What do you mean, why?” shouted Agatha. “There is only bakery in the area, and all three people just happened to have eaten there before they died?”
Deputy Cole shook his head and laughed. She was always figuring things out in a way that made you feel completely incompetent. “Want us to check credit card records to track purchases to make sure?”
Agatha stood and started to make her way out of the door. “Yeah, while you do that, I’m heading to the two bakeries to interview employees. I have a feeling this will be a good one.” Before Cole could get a chance to answer, the door to his office was slammed shut, and Agatha was once again on the case.
When Agatha pulled up the Greenside Bakery, she noticed two things. One, it was directly across the street from the only other bakery, the within twenty miles, and two, it had so many flowers around it, the air reeked of tulips and roses. The smelled was then suddenly canceled out when she entered the bakery. The typical smells of baked goods filled her nose, and surprisingly, the faint smell of bitter
