Creative Writing: Emma Rose Still Missing

Imagine it was a couple of years ago. It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon and the sun reflected perfectly off of the blue chlorinated water. You and a couple of friends are lying in the remarkably green grass along your rock lined pool. While everyone talks you run inside to grab a box of Special K cereal and a half gallon carton of skim milk. You notice the one of your friends freezes and stares blankly at the carton. You al yell her name, but still she remains froze, staring at the carton. You yank the carton out of her hands, and a tear streams down her pale face. You look down at the carton and gesture for everyone to come see. The carton said missing in big, bold letters, but that was not the surprising part. A familiar face lies beneath the letters. Soon enough, you all receive an Amber Alert on your phones. "Missing, Emma Rose. A skinny red headed female, last seen wearing a pink shirt and black leggings." Aria Fields picks up the newspaper from the front porch. The header on the front page reads "Emma Rose Still Missing." A picture of Emma lies beneath the bold black print. She quickly skims the article. A certain phrase catches her eye. Emma's parents have decided to host a formal gathering, open to everyone who wished to attend, and better yet the "gathering" was today. Aria knows that this is Emma's parents way of finding closure, and knew that her and her friends would all be expected to attend. Aria throws the newspaper into the trash. She wipes the tears from her face and walks out the door to meet her friends. Her friends, Zoey Clark and Nicole Adams, are impatiently waiting in Nicole's new red convertible. They all stared at each other in shock before heading to school. The car, that was usually filled with noise and laughter, is unusually silent. They pass the missing posters that hung at each corner.
