“I’m ready.” said George
George was contemplating, if he should do it or not, doubting himself many times. On his way to meet Emily, George thought it through, he is going to do it with all his courage.
Yesterday George thought, he and Emily were just close friends. He thought about the relationship between Emily and himself. He realized that he always cared about Emily. George started to worry when he snapped back into reality.

George says impatiently, ”I’m wasting too much time!” He quickly knocks on the door, of the Webb home. Surprisingly, Mr. Webb answered the door. Mr. Webb seemed very surprised to see George. George quickly asks in a quiet voice.
“Is Emily here?” says George.
Mr. Webb gives George a baffled and concerned look.
Mr. Webb says, “No, she is not here.”
George quickly replies
“That is good, I want to ask you an important question. May I come in?”
Mr. Webb led George to the parlor room, letting George sit down in a chair.
“So, what is this about?”
George’s nervousness was showing clearly on his face. He finally spoke.
“This might be too much to ask for, but…..can….I have your permission to……...marry your daughter?”
Saying those words drained all the energy from George. Mr. Webb was so shocked, it looked as if he had just saw a ghost.
“Why would you want to marry my beloved daughter?”
With enough courage to spit out a reply, George finally said,
“I love your daughter very much, I’ve cared about her every minute.”

George was surprised and offended.
“That’s not it, and hey, I get the homework.”
With all his might, thinking back to what Mr. Webb had said, he got down on one knee. Slowly pulling the flowers out in front of him.
“Emily Webb, will you do me the honor, and marry me?”
Emily, flabbergasted from what George had said, covered her mouth and starts crying.
“Yes, of course I will marry you!”
Emily quickly takes the flowers and hugs George. George was so that happy he felt his own tears coming.
“I love you Emily.” says George.
Emily smiled a shining smile, while crying. The setting sun shines made Emily’s falling tear glisten.

After the day of the proposal, Emily and George go around announcing to everyone they were getting married. Emily would be planning their wedding, but George would tell her to slow down.
