(Coraline exits)

Miss Miriam Forcible (MF): I’m worried about Caroline… the unfortunate luvvy. I wonder what is going to happen?

Miss April Spink (MS): She’s actually Coraline… not Caroline at all. (thoughtfully sighs)

MF: Well, April, why didn’t you tell me sooner? In my days of theatre, I use to get quite irritated when people said my name wrong! (mumbles under breath It’s Miriam, not Mary-Ann)

MS: I… I… I have my reasons, but they are rather embarrassing. (tear rolls down cheek, voice wavers slightly) Miriam, have I ever told you about my mother? Well… her name was Caroline. She died when I was eight years old. That’s the reason I call Coraline her incorrect name. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you. I was worried you’d judge me. (stifled sob into hanky) Promise you won’t tell Coraline we know? I still want to remember my mother.

Except, I have a question. Why would I judge you, when we have been friends for so long? You know that’s a silly notion of an idea.
