The Chattahoochee River Dam

The Chattahoochee River Dam is located between the Alabama and Georgia state lines, near the small town of Columbia, Alabama. I like to go there to fish, but it is also a great place to go for a family picnic, a day of relaxing on the sandy shore, or a bonfire with friends. There are many different things to notice at the River Dam, such as the beautiful terrain, the relaxing sounds, and the ambient smells of the river. There are some beautiful scenery at the Chattahoochee Dam. There is the choice of going to the Alabama side of the river, or the Georgia side. Some of the wildlife may include deer, snakes, fish, birds, and alligators. The Alabama and Georgia side of the river offers great scenery and fun from fishing the Alabama side to playing on the Georgia side. While there relaxing and having fun, the sounds of being by the water may be heard. The rushing water coming off the dam, and the animals that make their home near the water can be quite loud. The birds chirping and diving in the water for the fish can be very relaxing to listen to. Other things that give audience is the wildlife, such as crickets and frogs. The sounds of children playing, the hum of the boats, and hearing the fish jump on top of the water are always relaxing sounds. There are many things to be heard by the river. Along with all the sights and sounds of the river are the smells. While the odors are not overwhelming, there are whiffs of the pungent odor of bait that people use to fish with, the scent of the fish, and the ambient odor exhaust of the boats. If the day is nice and sunny, the fragrance of suntan lotion used by the people laying out on the beachy shore may be perceived and at night, the smoky odor of bonfires.
