Its important to understand that reconstruction differs from recreation, reenacting and criminal profit as reconstruction is the scientific ability to analyze physical evidence, make observations and use logical approaches. These concepts differ as recreation calls for either actions or items to be placed back at a crime scene according to the original documentation by reporting officers. Reenacting in general recalls for having any parties involved such as victim, suspect, or witness reenact the crime scene to the best of their knowledge of the crime so investigators can produce evidence whereas CSR does not call for that. Criminal profiling the use of psychological and statistical analysis that helps find characteristic that best fits the suspect for the crime. The process of reconstruction starts when the investigating team first walk through where the crime originally happened at. At this point the team might be able to get a scratchy hypotheses of how things may have played out but we have to remember that a hypothesis is only a set of ideas or broad picture of happened that needs to be supported by evidence. Once the walk through is complete some start recording the scene as they gather evidence and identifying who was involved in the crime from the victim, suspect and witnesses. At this time investigators wants to know the “W’s” who, what, where, when, why and how the crime took place. A scene could be document in a variety of ways such as videos, photos, picture drawing and taking notes as investigators are looking evidence small as
