Juveniles Without Hope In the 1980’s/90’s, criminologists made future predictions of teenagers committing adult crimes at an alarming rate, they were labeled as, “superpredators”. Since these predictions, politicians responded to this fear by lowering the age limit at which children could be easily tried as adults. Juveniles should be considered children because they’re not fully developed and therefore should not be given life in prison. In the article, “Juveniles Don’t Deserve Life Sentences” by Gail Garinger, discusses about the superpredator myth and why juveniles should not be left without hope. Juveniles are immature, “more vulnerable to peer pressure, cannot escape from dangerous environments, and their characters are still in formation.”(Garinger
