This article, Tips from School Improvement Leaders, School Improvement in Maryland written by Lani Seikaly was thought provoking. When Seikaly identified the two major barriers to the school improvement process, she profoundly confirmed and highlight the current state of my building. Many teachers feel and have expressed at every turn, their frustration. This frustration is due to feeling overwhelmed with the amount of tasks and lack of direction as to the order of priority. These concerns directly relate to Seikaly’s barriers for school improvement.
At the beginning of every school year, leadership within my building makes a concerted effort to engage everyone in the school improvement process. The teachers at the beginning are on board.
