Feminist Criticism They say it is a women’s world, and it is a proven fact that this is a true statement.sl women has changed drastically through the years. From being belittled to almost nothing and stereotyped to being some of the most successful gender in today’s society. In the novel The Once and Future King by T.H. White, he stereotypes the women in the story to be girlish and needy, which is portrayed through Elaine and Guenever in the story. However, the men are seen as strong, brave knights who fight to protect their kingdom and country, but the role of man today is still seen as the protector of what is his. Women back then had no choice but to accept their role as not being significant in their country besides giving birth to the men that defend their country.
White gave a quality certain quality to the women which was a concealed motive that could not be swayed. For example, Morguese was hellbent on her revenge for Uther's actions that led to Arthur's birth. While looking at her thoughts of hatred went to the offspring of her clan's downfall, misplaced as it was, she never altered her plans and sacrificed everyone to see that legacy destroyed. Guenever was more concerned about keeping her love for Lancelot secret to protect her image than to really protect Arthur's. It is only after their affair is brought to light did she truly see what she had done wrong. Elaine, blinded by her obsession with Lancelot which was fed by her father's ideals, went out of her way to keep him at her side ultimately
