Each family ultimately was destroyed by their hateful differences on Pg. 179 just as they lived in them. The other side of the claim states kindness begets kindness, which is also very well illustrated in the book like when Jim helps the Doc save Tom's life. During the few last chapters of the book as Huck and Tom have rescued Jim, Tom is mortally wounded when escaping and they kidnap a doctor to try and help him but due to Tom's hallucination state the doctor cannot do much to help him. When Jim sees this, he steps out of hiding to help the doctor save Tom. Due to doing this, Jim is recaptured, but when the angry mob is ready to kill Jim, the doctor advocates for Jim's life because of his heroic help in saving Tom's life, which ultimately saves Jim. This perfectly shows that eventually what goes around comes around because Jims compassion, the Doc on Pg 349 felt so inclined to do the same just as Sophocles stated “For kindness begets kindness evermore”. The third piece of evidence echoes the idea of the beginning: that cruelty begets cruelty, but many folks find it to happen more than kindness begets
