A person with a great power and patriarchal view is manipulating politics and economics to affect women rights, and for greatest consequences: women’s health. With the excuse of being a Pro-life President, Mr. Trump is attempting against the life of women. An example of his sexist policy is the reinstatement of the Global Gag Rule. Also known as the Mexico City Policy, this rule was first introduced by President Ronald Reagan. Separate law already restricts U.S. foreign assistance funding for abortions overseas. The global gag rule goes a step further and prevents foreign organizations receiving U.S. international family planning funds from providing information, referrals, or services for legal abortion or advocating for access to abortion services in their country — even with their own money (Planned Parenthood). This rule is not only about abortion. The clinics and hospitals who receive financial help from the United Sates are unable to provide any kind of information about secure ways to avoid pregnancy. Trump reinstated this regulation with the apparent purpose of stop abortion, when as a fact it will not. The funding cuts will go far beyond abortion, and even beyond contraception. They will likely prevent many global health organizations from offering HIV prevention and treatment services, maternal health care, and Zika virus prevention.
