3.4 Instrumentation and Data Collection A 20-item pre- and post-assessment test was created by the researcher to determine the spelling proficiency of Grade 6 students at Galongen Elementary School and to measure the effectiveness of the intervention they employed. All topic area books provided the spelling words that were utilized in the pre- and post-test assessment tools. From week 1 to week 10, information for the weekly pre- and post-assessment was logged and protected. A number of validations were conducted on the pre- and post-assessment instruments as well as the participant's list of words to spell in order to improve their efficacy, validity, and reliability. Four (4) district English teachers and a district English coordinator at Bacnotan served as content validators for the intervention materials utilized in this action research. Five experts were consulted to validate the researchers' evaluation methods and intervention materials. The pre- and post-assessment instruments, along with the list of words that needed to be spelled, were carefully validated before being given to students thrice a week during their reading period at 1:00–1:30. Students were instructed to use the See, Say, Cover, and Write techniques. In order to verify the accuracy of the data and provide further context for the findings, the results were consolidated. 3.5 Data Analysis The collected data are treated this way.
