The government then creates laws to protect the citizens of the United States. When these laws are broken possible harm can be caused to the majority of the people. In document A with the illegal alcohol and gambling information and in the documents B-F with an explanation of illegal drug production. All three are illegal because of the necessary evil to keep the public from harming others and or themselves with these means. Alcohol was banned during the prohibition era, because it was getting out of hand and hurting the lives of the people. The government saw the issue and tried to ban it, but the alcohol is an addictive agent. Because it is addictive, it caused people to break the law in order to sell or use it. Marijuana has become more and more of an issue. It is becoming bigger as time goes on. The government is starting to allow marijuana, but when it is illegal it is because it can cause harm to many people. It is the beginning to an addiction. The addiction is the high it gives a person. So how is the government supposed to protect the lives of the innocent? They may sometimes have to take a different step that may be on the line that the amendments drew.
