Dachshund Analysis

Our family owns a dachshund named Winnie. Her name comes from two different sources; Winnie the Pooh, and short for wiener dog. When we first got her, she was the size of my hand. Now, she is more like a little piglet. If you have ever had a relationship with a wiener dog, you would characterize it as stubborn, headstrong, lively, courageous, and clever. For me personally; attention seeking, smelly, sassy, sneaky, and overall, kind of a jerk. Through experience I have learned there are certain steps that will help any individual to live with a dachshund. An important piece of information you should know is: small dogs have small bladders. Typically, they will not last the entire night without having to go to the bathroom, even if you let them out before bedtime. Though, if properly potty trained, you will be pleasantly surprised. Waking up in the middle of the night the dog will flap their ears and jump off the bed, landing with a thud on the floor. Unfortunately, they are all of the foul odors and they end up smelling like a sewer. Make sure you take your garbage out and pick up after they do their business. Next, because they do not enjoy arctic weather, they can be found sitting in front of the heater or next to any source of heat. If no one is home and the heater is not accessible, they will pull every blanket off the couch and build a nest on the floor. If you are home, they will be found on a lap, wedged into the side of the couch, or between your legs while you sleep. In addition, dachshunds are rodent killers, so if you find baby birds in your backyard or you catch bats that were trapped in your house to release them back outside, don't worry about the cat.
