Dame Edna Everage has four children Bruce, Kenny, Lois and Valmai. Unfortunately, Lois was believed to have been abducted by a 'rogue koala' but survived and became a catholic nun. After relocating to Sydney in 1957, Barry revived the 'Olympic Hostess' in Philip Street Revue Theatre and the character of Edna seemed to be a big hit, resulting in eight shows a week for 14 months.
Dame Edna's fame and popularity grew after her performances in London in the 1960s and soon she appeared in films and evolved to 'Housewife and Superstar', then 'Megastar' and finally 'Gigastar'. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s Dame Edna's became increasingly known and popular in North America after multiple stage and television appearances. Although Dame Edna is just a fictional character, she wrote an autobiography called My Gorgeous Life. Her fame was increasingly popular in many countries, ranging from Argentina to the Philippines.
On 7 March 2007, Melbourne renamed a street in her honour: Dame Edna Place, formerly Brown Alley off Little Collins Street, was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Melbourne, John So.
